While working in vocational rehabilitation has been my career for the past 28 years, I was a "late bloomer" when it came to scuba diving. Diving lessons for my 50th birthday was a start, and connecting with the Eels on Wheels was the logical marriage of my profession and an incredible sport.

Diving with guys like Joe Murphy, a paraplegic dentist with over 500 dives, is like taking a graduate course in scuba from a professor with a sense of humor. And being a dive buddy to Gene Rodgers, who happens to be an adventurer with quadriplegia, will convince anyone who doubts the feasibility of adaptive scuba diving.

Vacation sites: Las Vegas? Disney World? New York City? Nope. Give me a week with the Eels in the sunny Caribbean!
